Best Paper Award
To increase the visibility of the outstanding scientific achievements of our PhD students, the Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI) is announcing the MUI PhD Awards for the best scientific publications by MUI PhD students.
For exceptional publications published in 2025, a total of three MUI PhD Awards will be awarded for the first time, with a total prize fund of EUR 4,500.
Students enrolled in the PhD programs at MUI, as well as graduates of a MUI PhD program (graduation in 2025 or later), are eligible to apply, provided they were primarily responsible for an outstanding scientific publication published in 2025.
The award criteria are excellence, novelty, and the outstanding quality of the scientific work.
Awards may be granted in the categories of basic or clinical research. Each applicant may submit only one publication.
The decision on the MUI PhD Awards will be made by a jury consisting of at least three international experts, in cooperation with the program directors and coordinators of the MUI PhD programs and the responsible members of the Rectorate. In cases of an equal score, the award will be granted ex aequo and the prize money will be divided. In the case of shared first authorship (application as a team), the prize money will be awarded in equal shares to all PhD students involved.
There is no legal entitlement to the award. A person may receive an MUI PhD Award only once.
